Recently Hive Social has had a bit of an overhaul to better reflect where we are at today. In the 4 years that Hive Social has been doing it's thing our services and expertise have been constantly evolving. The time had come for a realignment of our logo, brand and website. I thought I'd share a few words on what we've been working on.
Working closely with our graphic design partner we developed a new, simple logo that reflects what we are about much more closely. The idea was to stick with the hexagon / 'hive' shape that has been a part of us from the very beginning, whilst keeping things minimal and smart.
After banding around many different ideas, design concepts and variations we eventually settled on the simplest one of them all.

When it came to our general branding we (again) wanted to really simplify things. Colour-wise things were getting a little, shall we say, 'busy'...
We had a super varied colour palette with loads going on, various icons for our services which resulted in what felt like an overall 'WOAH' feeling.
Time to go back to basics.

If you've followed Hive Social over the last year or so you'll know that we are fans of keeping our own site up to date with Squarespace's new functionality, templates and general design trends. I guess that's one thing about working with a platform that constantly evolving and growing - we constantly find awesome websites and inspiring design that sends us on a path of tweaks, re-designs and updates!
As part of our brand overhaul, we really wanted to take time to consider what we want our current (and potential) customers to find on our site and how we want you to interact with our work.
Here's our top 4 key objectives for the new website:

We worked with the Fulton template and developed a custom navigation that keeps things really simple and, most importantly, our content front and centre. With all of that screen real-estate we were able to create elegant project pages that really showcase the work that we are so proud to be a part of.
