Case Study | Ratliff Landells Architecture
Tamsin Landells and Tim Ratliff (aka Tim & Tam) got in touch with us ahead of the official launch of their new brand identity. They had the initial makings of a new Squarespace site that needed tweaking and also wanted Hive Social to run a social media focused launch campaign in order to make an impact on launch day and beyond!
Tim & Tam are all about colour, they wanted their site to be bold and stand out!
RL-A (Ratliff Landells) had everything we needed in order to get really stuck into the project: stunning photography by Adam Scott, a super awesome logo and bold branding by Gale & Haye, as well as an incredible enthusiasm for both what they do and our work together.
These guys were a real pleasure to work with!
The project started off with the completion of their new Squarespace 7 website which was built using the Forte template. We set up a holding page in order to give users a landing page as well as chance for data capture in the form of a 'notify me' form.
We also used CSS coding to make some specific changes that really tied everything (brand identity & digital presence) together, here's some of the changes we included:
- Custom heading colours that matched branding (H1, H2, H3 & bold colours).
- Changed the colour settings of the social links in the main navigation.
- Custom gallery control colours.
- Body link hover colour in order to switch between green/orange.
- Static map block.
- Lightbox background colour.
- Custom button colours.
- Solid top navigation background on homepage slideshow.
- Custom blog name & date colours.
- Various padding/margin settings throughout website pages.
The key to getting a website spot on is communication and Tam (who headed up the project form the client end) was very responsive, clear in her feedback and wasn't afraid to say what she did/didn't like! This made amendments and changes really easy and quick - the new website was looking good!
With the new website ready to launch our attention was turned to the launch campaign. We set up MailChimp for RL-A in order to start building up a mailing list (made up of past contacts and new ones captured form the holding page) and designed a simple branded launch email to send out.
We set up branded Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest & LinkedIn accounts with consistent profile and cover images. Once RL-A's social media presence was established we built a bespoke weekly schedule of content that included varied post ideas. We scheduled this as skeleton content for the 2 week launch campaign period during which time we also engaged with new fans & follower, encouraging them to sign up on the holding page and follow other accounts.
As well as scheduled content and regular teaser/promotional posts, the launch campaign included a social media advertising campaign on Facebook & Twitter to support the buzz being created by organic social media content.
Each aspect was planned carefully to tie in to one another perfectly in order to make the biggest impact.
During the 2 week launch campaign we saw the following stats:
227,000+ Facebook Reach.
345,000+ Facebook Impressions.
600% Twitter Impressions, Reach & Followers increase.
36,000+ Impressions of Launch Tweets.
1,900+ Unique Twitter Profile Visits.
150+ New subscribers for future eMarketing.
800+ Unique Website Visitors.
2,250+ Unique Pageviews.
It's not just about the numbers though... The most important thing for us was that we had the opportunity to get stuck in to an exciting project for a new brand that had a clear idea of the kind of impression they wanted their launch to make.
Following the launch we provided Ratliff Landells with training on social media scheduling and best practises so that they had all the tools needed to continue making an impact online.
